Boxer Superstores is seeking an experienced Finance Controller to join our newly formed team located at Tongaat Distribution Center which will open in around mid-year. The Finance Controller you’ll be responsible for managing financial risk and maintaining respect for our policies and procedures in the field of finance. You’ll oversee the creation and analysis of financial reports as well as provide weekly statements of profit and loss in line with budget targets, work closely with our finance head office teams, manage general ledger reporting and forecast against budget targets and oversee the management of staff and consumable expense management initiatives. Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, accounting, CPA or CMA preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years work experience in the field of finance or similar position.
- Proficient proficiency SAP Finance.
- A solid understanding of and control of financial risk and compliance.
- Advanced Excel abilities, which include pivot tables VLOOKUPs along with macros.
- Demonstrated skills in solving financial analysis problems.
- Great communication abilities, including the ability to communicate complicated financial data.
- Excellent mathematical and accounting abilities With a keen eye for the smallest details.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Compile reports from internal staff on a weekly basis, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Analyse and report on financial data, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.
- Ensure the accuracy of financial reports, implementing rigorous checks and balances.
- Present weekly profit and loss statements against budget targets, highlighting key variances and trends.
- Liaise with head office finance teams to ensure the accuracy of monthly profit and loss statements.
- Manage general ledger postings to ensure completeness and accuracy, maintaining compliance with accounting standards.
- Forecast against budget targets on a weekly basis, incorporating various factors and adjusting strategies as needed.
- Lead staff management initiatives, providing guidance and support to the finance team.
- Manage consumable expenses, optimizing costs while maintaining quality and efficiency.
