Description
The Evolutionary Studies Institute, University of the Witwatersrand, is seeking a fossil preparator to work with the team to prepare fossils from the rock matrix using various methods. The preparator will also have other duties in support of the smooth running of the Institute, maintenance of collections, curation, outreach and fieldwork.
Minimum Requirements
- Matric
- Existing preparation experience will be advantageous

Key Performance Areas
- To ensure responsible excavation, preparation and subsequent curation of valuable fossil and modern material collected in the field.
- Maintenance of field and preparation equipment.
- To be willing to learn other techniques such as the preparation of moulds and casts for the casting of original specimens for research and exhibition, fieldwork, palynology and thin sectioning.
- Any other technical task required by the Director to be undertaken at the ESI.
