Company Description
We are looking for a highly-motivated position for Training Officer (E&M) training officer (E&M) to coordinate and offer training and assessments to students on HME and mobile equipment, as well as other legally-required training such as being at the heights of work, locking-out and isolating, switching MV and more.
Job Description
As a Trainer officer (E&M)you will provide the services you require and your duties will include, but are not including:
- Safety and Health
- Always apply Safety and Health principles in every interaction with learners and assume personal responsibility to ensure the safety of yourself and the learners, ensuring that there is no injury and avoidance of fatalities.
- Summarize and summarize the particular dangers in the area of work and devise plans/systems for avoiding these dangers.
- Control Safety and Health systems within the workplace.
- Facilitate visits to the site by both visitors both from the outside and inside to ensure compliance with site security procedures (including introduction).
- Performance and Delivery
- Provide legal authorisation training activities during scheduled weekly training shifts related to authorisation-to-work procedures, SOPs, and simulation (where available) and any required learning intervention as per plan and schedule.
- Create, design and maintain training matrixes, tools as well as programs and assessments for the purpose of providing the training in a practical manner.
- Provide training and practical sessions to provide learners with the required abilities and skills.
- Test learners against Legal Authorisation standards and processes to determine their level of competence.
- Assess and monitor the progress of learners in line with NQF standards, and prepare progress reports to monitor their progress, if applicable.
- Learners should be prepared for tests and ensure they are in compliance with the standard of the unit or learning outcomes.
- Maintain portfolios of learners as the MQA demands Kumba to accurately document the progress of their education and accomplishments.
- Maintain and control the administration of training documentation to ensure that the records are current and readily accessible.
- Conduct assessments of skills and needs to determine the learners’ education requirements and identify the gaps in their knowledge or abilities.
- Check the performance of students and use of procedures to ensure that they comply with safety regulations and follow the proper procedures.
- Help in the ensuring of compliance with company’s SHE goals by requiring students to follow and adhere to the safety regulations while completing their course.
- Stay updated with the latest developments in your expertise and maintain close contact with the mine’s relevant discipline managers/supervisors.
- Engage regularly with the Engineering leaders in operational operations, while understanding and responding to requirements at both the departmental and individual level.
Qualifications
- Grade 12
- Relevant ETDP Qualification/Certificate on NQF5
- Higher Certificate in OD ETDP Level 05 ( Preferred)
- Qualified Artisan for Engineering disciplines.
- A2 Safety Training & Legal Liability
- Assessor & Moderator Certificate
- SA Drivers Licence Code B
Experience
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in a mining engineering operational environment.
- Understand adult learning principles and methodologies.
- Knowledge of training needs analysis, curriculum development, and instructional design.
- Ability to identify hazards related to HME maintenance operations and implement risk mitigation strategies.
- Knowledge of emergency response procedures and incident investigation techniques.
- Familiarity with project and resource management tools and techniques.
- Familiarity with South African mining laws, including the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA), relevant regulations, safety standards and best practices in the mining industry.
- Gained an in-depth understanding of engineering maintenance tasks related to HME machines in opencast mines.
- Knowledge of legally required training such as working at heights, lock out and isolation, MV switching (electrical), etc.
- Familiarity with dealing with and coordinating training provider activities to ensure the continuous development of own and contractor employees.
