Duties
Offer comprehensive medical care to Internal Medicine Patients-General/Subspecialties/Outpatients and Inpatients. Manage transfer requests and referrals from levels 1, 2, and 3 facilities within the Hospital drainage area. Perform daily ward visits in the medical wards at level 1, (problems) and also daily inpatient and outpatient visits. Consult with other departments. Write meticulous discharge summaries for all patients. Conduct medical outpatient and specialty clinics. Referral of well-worked-up suitable patients to subspecialties. Re-referring every stable patient clinics at level 1. Training for junior medical officers Medical students, registrars and allied health professionals. Training of staff (Junior Medical Officers and Registrars, and Nurses) within The Medical Wards and Clinics and from facilities that are affiliated with DGM Hospital. Outreaches Level 2 and 3 Hospitals. Other duties as directed by the department head.
Requirements
Grade 12 Certificate. MBCHB or the equivalent. The appropriate qualification allows recognition with Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an Independent Medical Practitioner. Current registration with HPCSA to be the Independent Medical Practitioner. FCP Part I will be added to enhance the experience. There is no requirement for experience after registration through HPCSA. HPCSA to become an Independent Medical Practitioner.
