Job Purpose

What Will Your Main Responsibilities Be
- Accepts and implements a production plan in conjunction with the production manager. Assist, guide and direct within the plan of production. (e.g. when a line of production fails, prioritize the production needs and then re-allocate the labour force according to the need).
- Analyzes the results of shifts and implements any changes necessary to boost production.
- ensures that quality standards are met and adhered to. Also, diagnoses plant issues (fault discovering) and coordinates to the Engineering Foreman for plant repairs and interprets fault-finding to improve production. Make sure that shift repairs and maintenance are completed by Team Leaders and the operators to minimize the impact of downtime.
- Participate in daily production meetings with various production departments to analyze the results of previous shifts and make any necessary adjustments to satisfy demand.
- Responsible for ensuring that there is enough personnel and the right raw materials.
- Determines the causes and the costs associated with waste, pollution and inefficiencies, and takes actions to reduce the amount of waste, contamination and inefficiencies. Control and reduce waste including raw materials packaging, steam electricity, water, and air.
- Mass balance is used to monitor the usage of raw materials. Knowledge of SAP system for conducting Stock take and daily SAP compliance tasks.
- Monitoring and ensuring compliance with the company’s Standards and SOP’s. Make sure that the plant is maintained with a high safety, engineering, and cleaning standards.
- Implements total productivity maintenance to increase PQCDSMI (Production Quality Cost, Delivery Safety, Morale as well as Innovation) to achieve the established Factory goals.
- Implement the recommendations of SHE Quality, SHE or engineering. Assures the responsible control for SHE, Quality and Engineering by using the SHE, Quality and Engineering Teams as Subject Experts in the Subject.
- Operational Systems: Make sure that employees are adhering to the standards of operation systems (SAP Time keeper, SAP ABC quality, ESS and Clock cards and so on) and also manage the business processes that are defined in the operational system.
- Finds out the causes of employees’ non-conformance (e.g. training requirements, managing ineffectiveness, refusing to follow lawful instructions or absenteeism) and then takes the appropriate actions.
- Controls changes to processes and processes and makes sure that the corrective action has been taken in case of an inconformance
- Coordinates in the execution of TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) and world-class principles in the factory.
- Safety as a section 16.2 appointed person is required to be sure the OHS Act and the company’s SHE standards and regulations are followed and enforced within the scope of their duties.
- Adopts corrective actions in the event of non-compliance, as per Section 16.2 requirements.
- Prepares quarterly and annual Audits
- Make sure that there is a sufficient level of compliance with these guidelines, procedures and policies to ensure that the organization is in compliance with the requirements of certification at any moment in time.
- Assists in ensuring that the that the Business and Factory strategy for Safety is carried out at a strategic level
- Cost Management: Creates an environment that is cost-conscious
- Monitoring and ensuring MUC losses and losses due to conversion costs are reduced against budgets.
- Assists in ensuring budget constraints are met with and any variances are dealt with
- Determines sources of waste and take steps to reduce the amount of waste.
- Monitors the Rand per Ton cost and provides information to teams
- Monitor and Control sundry expenses like PPE, telephone and tearoom.
- People Development: Determine training gaps for subordinates, based on lossor business requirements and then implement a plans with HR/Training and HR to fill them
- Create personal Development Plans for subordinates and evaluate their progress
- Industrial Relations: initiates inquiries or disciplinary actions and recommends dismissal.
- Resolution of conflicts within immediate teams and assists in the resolution of conflicts within subordinate teams.
- Maintains and builds trust with Union Leadership and Shop Floor to create win-win situations
- Eliminates industrial actions
- Learning and Development: Management of performance and human Resources coordination
- Projects Management and re-engineering of project management. Assist with ad hoc projects that relate to continuous improvement, as stated in PDP objectives
Experiences & Qualifications
- BTech or Degree with a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree. National Diploma in Mechanical/ Industrial/Chemistry Engineering preferred
- 3 to 5 years FMCG Experience in Making as well as packaging
- Must have experience in optimisation
- Experienced leadership and management of a large team that work in shifts
- Solid operational and strategic Production Management expertise
- Cost reduction and budget experience
- Expert project management experience
- Training manuals compilation Facilitate and coordinate the process of training
- A solid Industrial Relations experience is required, and this should be in a unionized workplace all the way to CCMA
- Guide and support OHS and SHE standards and regulations, and ensure that compliance
- manage multiple stakeholders and numerous redesigning projects
- Understanding and knowledge of the following aspects will be an advantage
