Position Purpose
Assist the Train Driver with safe and efficient operation of various trains (airbrake, vacuum, high speed, heavy haul and passengers) so as to meet customer freight/cargo delivery on schedule while meeting all safety regulations in accordance with customer requirements and organisation expectations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 12 with pure Mathematics or Physical Science as their major. Other requirements:
- Be willing to undergo periodic medical surveillance, behavioral risk evaluations during selection processes as well as every 12 months thereafter.
- Physical hearing, vision, mental fitness (to be verified through medical tests and related behavioral risk assessments).
- The operator shall not permit employees under 21 years old to perform Train driver or train control duties (SANS 3000 par 6.2.6.8).
- The candidate should be at least 1.6m tall.
- Psychomotor Abilities should be assessed using Vienna Testing System Standards).
