Minimum Requirements
- Degree or Certificate or Diploma General Nursing or Clinical Technology or a related medical field 2-5 years of experience conducting clinical research on several projects
- Good Clinical Practice certification (advantageous)
- A keen passion for Research (particularly Allergy, Immunology and Dermatology)
- Computer literacy (proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic Data Management systems including email, internet) Valid Driver’s License (essential)
- Proficiency in English as well as another language (Afrikaans and/or isiXhosa) Good interpersonal communication, time management and communication abilities
- Excellent organizational skills
Responsibilities include
- Screen participants for admission to studies based on specific inclusion criteria The scheduling of patients for a medical exam and follow-up (telephone and visits to the community)
- Complete the study procedures delegated to you, i.e. vital signs, electrocardiography’s (ECG’s), collect laboratory and pharmacokinetic (PK) biological specimens
- Prepare laboratory specimens for shipping or transporting to laboratory
- Management of participant records: maintain, retrieve and file according to study visits. This includes lab and procedure results
- Keep track of relevant study records (screening enrollment, screening, participant confidentiality log and AE tracking.) Supervise all trial related activities at the sites of both UCT Lung Institute as well as Tertiary Cape hospitals, where the unit is operating. and coordination of study participants
- Interact with non-study routine medical and nurses in hospitals Help in the writing and updating of SOP’s recording and management Phlebotomy procedures, including the introduction of IV lines for peripheral use (if you are a nurse)

- Position will be based in Mowbray
- 6 to 12-month Fixed Term Contract
- Working hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
