About the job:

The CSIR has a job opening for an Sales Associate for government for the CSIR International Convention Centre in the CSIR Conferencing and Accommodation portfolio (C&A). The person who fills the position is responsible for finding national, local and international government conferences to meet CSIR ICC sales and market goals. This job is based in Pretoria.

Key responsibilities:

Research and planning

• Develop and execute an annual sale plan for the market of the government.
• Study the markets for government and create leads that are viable for sales calls.
• Do research in order to understand and report on market, customer preferences, and behaviors in the market. help in the annual strategic planning process.

Sales Activities

• Engage in proactive visits and meetings prospective buyers (sales calls)
• Host site inspections for prospective clients. Coordinate and host site inspections to potential
• Create proposals, bids and quotes for customers who are interested and follow up by ensuring leads are converted into sales
• Reach sales targets by engaging in sales activities
• Monthly reports
• Reprezent for the CSIR Internation Convention Centre (ICC) as the primary point of contact with the industry associations
• Coordinate with the CSIR ICC stand and represent the CSIR ICC at trade shows according to the marketing plan along with other Sales Executives.
• Make sure that the department is communicating properly throughout and after the event handover and provide support on-site to the Event Coordinator whenever required.
• Present CSIR ICC presentations at tradeshows, workshops, and industry events, off-site at the client offices or on the site in the CSIR ICC as required

Qualifications, skills and experience:

• Matric with at least five years’ experience within the conferencing industry, both in the local and international arenas
• A Bachelor’s degree or a degree related to Marketing or similar field will be beneficial.
• Experience in selling, research and other promotional activities for the market for government
• License of the driver and vehicle
• Flexible, willing to travel and work long hours
