Job Purpose
Performs routine clerical duties to assist the Librarian and thereby provides a quality service to the students.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with running the circulation desk (issuing renewals, issuances and return of loans to books).
- The daily handling and management of newspaper (including clippings and scanning).
- Daily journal handling.
- Shelf reading for the day.
- Make sure that all equipment (computers or printers) are working properly.
- Assist in the updating of notice boards.
- Assist with the preparation and mounting of library displays.
- Help students to use computers.
- Help students by providing OPAC searches.
- Keep your library clean and professional at all times.
- Supports the clerical needs of Library staff e.g. assistance with photocopying handouts during workshops, and checking the subject guides and worksheets for databases.
- In addition to the above duties can also perform other tasks depending on the assignment and requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Library and Information Science Qualification NQF Level 7
