About the job:
The CSIR offers an internship at Mandela Mining Precinct. Mandela Mining Precinct that is located inside the CSIR Business Excellence and Integration portfolio. The aim of this internship is to offer graduates the chance to gain work experience by conducting research and development of innovative new technologies and innovative products under the supervision of engineers and researchers in cross-functional teams. The location of this opportunity is Johannesburg.
Key responsibilities:
- Conduct a literature search of research that was conducted locally as well as internationally in the fields mentioned above.
- Perform time and motion studies for identified mining engineering techniques at a variety of mine locations.
- Work together with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) regarding the latest technologies in the above mentioned areas at various mine locations.
- Write reports about processes and their results.
- Research work or present results, if necessary;
- General administrative tasks, as requested by project managers/programmes
Qualifications, skills and experience:
- The Bachelor in Engineering Degree in mining
- The postgraduate qualification is an added benefit
- The exposure to Metalliferous mining environment and mechanised mining environments would provide an additional benefit
- Skills like the following are needed;
- A self-motivated, team player
- Analytical methods, numerical innovative, and driven by results;
- The ability to be a student and perform under pressure.
- Skills in administration (minutes recording, file, and research);
- Active and focused;
- A strong analytical and problem-solving ability;
- Good attention to details;
- Ability to prioritize and possess an acute awareness of the urgency, as well as precision;
- You must have a valid Drivers Licence;
- It is essential to have a clean/no criminal record;
- Every international qualification requires an evaluation report/certificate from SAQA. South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).
