KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The teaching of modules within B.Ed., PGCE and B.Ed. Honours in distance and contact in a multimodal context.
  • The production and presentation of seminars and lectures.
  • The development and inception of the subjects.

Research and Innovation

  • Research is conducted in a manner that is efficient.

  • Supervision of postgraduate students; publication in journal articles, conference proceedings as chapters or in book.

Community Engagement

  • Create and manage community engagement activities.

Minimum requirements

  • Master’s (NQF Level 9) degree in Mathematics Education.
  • A professional teacher’s qualification.
  • Two (2) years’ relevant teaching experience within a school or higher education context in Mathematics or Mathematics Education.

Added Advantages & Preferences:

  • The first degree (BSc or B.Ed) with Mathematics as an important subject until level 3.
  • Registration through SACE.

Key Functional/technical Competencies:

  • The fundamental knowledge of Mathematical concepts that can be used to teach Mathematics content models to students in the undergraduate B.Ed as well as Hons.
  • Computer literacy is a key component of MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) as well as email, and the internet.
  • The ability to understand the right assessment theories and methods to increase the performance of students.
  • Research outputs: publications, supervision and/or any other research activities.
  • Requests for research funding for research projects.
  • Experience with the latest platforms (e.g. whiteboard technology, eFundi, etc.) to facilitate the continuous evolution of the collaboration and learning environment.

Key Behavioural Competencies:

  • Effective time-management skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal relationships and a customer-service orientation.
  • Language proficiency demonstration to ensure optimal performance in the diverse functionally multilingual environments of NWU.
