Introduction

Finsch Diamond Mine is located in the town of Lime Acres, which is located 160km to the north from Kimberley and 109km to the south from Kuruman located in northern Cape. Northern Cape.

The report is in the direction of Foreman Engineering TMM This role will be accountable for the installation maintenance, repair, and maintenance of Trackless Mobile Machinery (TMM) and track bound equipment in the Diesel mechanical discipline, in line with the specifications of OEM, Mine Health and Safety Act and the prescribed requirements for performance.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Expertise and knowledge in areas of responsibility. Provide advice on ways to improve or increase the effectiveness of the section or department.
  • Conduct inspections according to regulations of Mine Health and Safety Act Regulations and Manufacturing and Company Standards to report any defects and malfunctions of machines and equipment and equipment to the Foreman.
  • Reports unsafe conditions and faults and unsafe conditions to Central Control Room. Central Control Room.
  • Participate in the preparation of shut downs (Planned maintenance ) Tools, resources, and spares that are relevant to shut down tasks.
  • Determine the requirements for spares and then make an order in accordance with departmental procedures.

  • Diagnose, research and carry out repairs and maintenance related to trade of machinery and equipment as per the requirements for maintenance.
  • Assist Foreman in the performance of his/her tasks as and when needed.
  • Perform planned task observation.
  • Follow the directions on the job description and report any deficiencies.
  • Energise the system and then apply the lock-out procedure according to the company’s policy.
  • Take apart and remove the machine assembly as well as steering mechanisms, transmissions as well as other components. examine the components.
  • Diagnose and detect the cause of malfunctions in parts and machines.
  • Make machine components and then fit components after repairs.
  • Maintain the machinery to ensure its uptime and efficiency.
  • Responsible for the execution of locks out when necessary.
  • Responsible for ensuring a clean, tidy the work area.
  • Contribute to the creation of Maintenance and Inspection schedules.
  • Make maintenance plans.
  • Responsible for administration of trade-related issues.
  • Do standby duty and assist with breakdowns.
  • Provide on-the-job training to assigned apprentices.
  • Make sure that you ensure that all Engineering reports are in line to the standards, guidelines and schedules.
  • Engagement and Communication: Create and maintain effective relations and effective communication systems in the Engineering Operation and Function.
  • Company Policy and Procedures Compliance takes note of and abides by the company’s policies, procedures, and relevant laws. Control and report on issues with non-compliance.
  • Safety, Health and Environment Compliance Conduct yourself in a manner that is in line with the Vision of the Company and Values. Monitor and report on any non-compliance concerns.
  • Conduct Risk evaluations (Mini) and takes part on risk assessment (Activity on).
  • Offer input to risk assessments, secure work procedures and planned task observations, monitor, train and enforce all codes of conduct as well as procedures, policies and risk assessments and ensure that all is in place to ensure the efficient managing of safe working environments in relation to related areas of responsibility as well as legal obligations.

Minimum Requirements

  • Trade Certificate (Diesel Mechanic) obtained through an accredited/recognised institution and via an apprenticeship.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ post Apprenticeship / Qualification experience (can be concurrent with the PDL trade experience).
  • Valid drivers’ license
  • Grade 12 / N3
  • Computer Literacy and Microsoft Office Suite.
