Purpose of the position:

The linkage officer is responsible for the efficient linking of individuals who take drugs to different services of the PWUD Programme.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 10 is completed OR senior certificate
  • HTS counseling certificate preferred
  • Experience with linking to care more beneficial
  • Participated within primary healthcare facilities, and/or in hospitals.
  • I worked with those who use drugs in a group setting. This was preferable
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Fluent fluent English Afrikaans, English or any other South African languages

Duties and Responsibilities

  • In addition, you can refer PWUD customers to see the nurse or counsellor to receive services.
  • Build strong relationships with health facilities within the district, to ensure effective linkage.
  • The collection of data on referrals, and the successful referral to treatment.
  • The completion of all required reports to be submitted for the program in relation to HTS or referrals .
  • Use your PWID into a health center to ensure that you are connected to the care.
  • Record keeping in DoH HTS Register.

  • Always show professionalism and conduct.

  • The knowledge of key populations is preferred.
  • Experience with HIV, STIs and TB methods for preventing them
  • The knowledge of health facilities and operation
