Minimum Qualifications
- Grade 12 certificate or N4 equivalent
- Have an applicable trade certificate as a Diesel Mechanic
- 5 years + experience as a Diesel Mechanic or Diesel workshop assistant
- Computer literate – ability to open job cards
- Basic electrical knowledge (auto electrical), troubleshooting starter motors, alternators, wiring and battery systems
- Working knowledge of different tools
- Through understanding of Preventative Maintenance, service intervals daily machine checks and scheduling of maintenance
- Good communication and collaboration skills
Duties and Responsibilities
- Working knowledge of all earthmoving machinery (mobile plant, loaders, dumpers, excavators, LDVs, mobile crushing and screening machines
- Perform first line maintenance task on all yellow fleet.
- Perform first line of breakdown repairs on plant and equipment
- Understanding of Mine Health & Safety Regulations
- Conduct PTOs
- Liaise with the procurement department to ensure availability of spares
- Complete risk assessments
- Good experience in hydraulics (fault finding as well as changing cylinders)
- Housekeeping, clean work habits and ensure the work area is always clean
- Adhere to Environmental regulations
