Minimum Requirements

  • Academic qualifications Master’s degree in Architecture or equivalent to HEQSF (5-year Bachelor of Architecture degree).
  • A registration for the South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP) is likely to be beneficial.
  • Registration with a non-profit Architectural body, such as the PIA or SAIA will be beneficial.

Critical performance arrears

  • Instruction in the above-described subjects. Regular academic duties and responsibility.
  • Examine students on a continual basis, and assigning exams and assignments based on guidebooks Community service and liaison with industry
  • Research, innovation, or community involvement.
  • Setting up, preparing and delivering lectures for the subject.
  • Marking assignments, tests and assignments in addition to conducting practice exercises.
  • Participation in departmental and subject meetings as well as subject-specific meetings. General administration like recording marks from assignments and tests in the ITS System, uploading documents through myTUTor, and assembling of the subject file(s).
  • Consultation with students.

Experience

  • 3 years of teaching knowledge in Architecture or related CPD courses, or 3 years of working in the industry.
  • Experience working in a the highest-quality academic research environment. The ability to instruct students, guide and mentor them.
  • Experience in critical assessment of theory and design and general experience of providing construction in the undergraduate level is useful.
  • Practical classes and critiques of designs on an individual basis.

Knowledge and Skill

  • Communication and interpersonal skills that allow you to have the ability to interact with colleagues, students, companies and other agencies in a variety of subjects.
  • Working as part of a group that is coordinated.
  • Practical classes, and criticism of designs on a an individual and group basis.
