Grindrod Vacancies Introduction

United Container Depots seeks to hire a Junior Stores Controller on a permanent basis. The incumbent will be responsible for managing the office, ensuring the stock levels required are maintained and service is delivered on time and efficiently.

Duties And Responsibilities

• When stock levels are reached, order replacement stock
• Get a competitive or negotiated price before ordering
• Two/three approved suppliers
• All stock items and rental equipment captured on the system
• Stock movement recording
• Renting correctly is important
• Stock and materials must be stored and stacked safely
• Maintaining a high standard of housekeeping
• The job card issuing spares
• Prepare stock reports as required
• Assuring that the spare parts and labour are recorded in the system after completing a job card
• All stock numbers must be collected
• Keep a register of all the refrigerants issued for repair (weight measurement).
• Returning unopened stock or offcuts
• Perform stock count as and when needed
• Attendance, discipline, and compliance with policies, procedures, SOPs, and company policies
• Use of PPE in accordance with safety standards and rules, including the correct and consistent application
• Other duties within your scope are to assist with ad-hoc tasks or work overflow.

Junior Stores Controller Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matriculation) or an equivalent.
• Experience in managing or working within a retail environment of at least 2 to 4 years.
• Testing and checking small tools to ensure they meet safety standards.
• Negotiating with suppliers and service providers.
• Ability to work well in a fast paced environment.
• Communication skills – both verbal and written.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team with minimal supervision.
• Microsoft Excel is a must-have for anyone who wants to excel.
