Operations Manager Position Job Description

The Operations Manager ensures that the Contracts Team delivers excellent operational service to clients, and also maintains contract profitability for a cluster of clients. They are constantly seeking ways to improve quality and services.

Minimum Qualification

  • Grade 12 or Related Qualifications (NQF 4)
  • Qualified in business, preferably in supply chain management, logistics or industrial engineering
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a managerial role within a process-driven working environment or industry.
  • Experience in the warehouse and production industries is essential.
  • Experience in FMCG is advantageous
  • Experience with IR/CCMA is advantageous
  • Exposure to unionized environments is an advantage

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Manage and monitor weekly report on activity in terms of the quality (feedback from clients)
  • Ensure that the skills are matched with the individual project and location.
  • the inductions that are conducted and follow-up with outstanding inductions.
  • Inductions must be performed in line with the standardised procedures through random audits.
  • Monitor the IR activities of the cluster and add it to dashboard of statistics;
  • Report the risk to the client and business Unit Manager/IR General Manager; Conduct disciplinary hearings when required. follow the proper procedure in relation to any disciplinary matter
  • Ensure that employees are aware of changes and conformity with relevant bargaining committees and understanding the significance of these clauses to different contracts.
  • Assist the clients, Business Unit Manager or IR Manager to prepare for CCMA instances; Manage CCMA cases if required.
  • Maintain a harmonious industrial relations through regular contact meetings with workers, union representatives, and employees as required.
  • Assist the Client by communicating plans and organising the production schedules to employees. IOD’s, analyse and study trends;
  • Provide suggestions regarding preventative measures conformity with standard operating procedures and client SLA Respond to escalated payroll inquiries
  • Make sure that the quality and delivery of client reports when needed
  • Continuously maintain contact with the credit control department and clients to ensure that escalated issues are addressed; Review of the age analysis every month and in line with SLA and identify any issues.
  • Participate in telecons if required to solve problems with accounts Monitor and control PPE costs per site per employee and conduct regular PPE audits.
  • Control and manage expenses for training and transportation monitoring the expiry dates of Licence and Medical expiry dates Link between project personnel (e.g. learnerships and key accounts and key accounts, sales) and operations, and ensure that the agreed actions are carried out.
  • Create and maintain an alliance with management of the client and management of the client;
  • Establish a clear understanding about the specifics of client’s business and the requirements they have
