Brief description

The main purpose of this position is to provide administrative support and assistance to the Office of the Chief Operating Officer (COO) at the South African Reserve Bank (SARB).

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:

  • Control and maintain the diaries of the managers as well as making arrangements for appointments and travel commitments, in coordination with appropriate personnel.
  • Screen, receive and respond to calls that come in on your personal initiative. If appropriate, handle any questions or direct calls to the relevant people.
  • Create and edit documents, correspondence and presentations as well as other documents. You can also do research and analysis whenever it is necessary.
  • Make sure that all incoming or outgoing communications (electronic mail or any other form of correspondence) is filed and registered according to the File Plan of the SARB.
  • Keep the records of documents, keep a record, and create weekly reports to follow-up on.
  • Coordinate and collate project-related information, as well as other details.
  • Examine the operational practices in your your own region and implement changes as needed.
  • Maintain positive external and internal relations on behalf of managers. This includes engaging with employees as well as other employees at every level of leadership.
  • Maintain and create a database of contact information for the offices of managers and also an organization system for filing in accordance of the SARB’s File Plan.
  • Complete the day-today tasks in a professional manner that includes maintaining complete confidential in all matters that pertain to the offices of managers.
  • Participate on relevant divisional, departmental, or SARB-wide project teams based upon experience skills, knowledge and abilities.
  • Complete any other task according to the instructions of supervisors, as and when needed.

Job requirements

  • A Matric certificate;
  • an Secretarial Diploma or other relevant post-Matric certificate; and
  • minimum 6-8 years’ experience working as the corporate personal assistant role or similar environment, and the ability to support executives.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree (NQF 7.).
  • competence mastery Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook);
  • experience with procedures in the administrative and clerical field;
